TOBIN, DAVID L. born January 5, 1928, in Miami, Florida, the son of Miami Beach pioneers Chas. S. Tobin and Relietta Tobin. Surviving him are his wife Judith Parlegreco Tobin, brother Michael M. Tobin, Esq., (Arlyene), son William B. Tobin (Jennifer) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, son Thomas W. Tobin, Esq. (Valerie also Esq.) of Atlanta, Georgia, daughter JoAnn Cordova (LeRoy) of Albuquerque and Boca Raton, grandchildren Bradley, Jessica, Esq., Rebecca, Ryland, great grandson Jack Corzine and Quinn Corzine (son and daughter of Jessica and John Corzine) and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He also served as guardian for Alan and Joseph Fischer during their minor years and has maintained their friendship for the past 40 years. He was a graduate of Miami Beach High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society and class president. After high school he applied for and took entrance exams for West Point, Annapolis and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. He was accepted into all three academies. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis into his junior year when he resigned. By resigning prior to his senior year, he was not present for one of the most important and impressive events known as the Ring ceremony at the end of the 3rd year. Unbeknownst to him, someone (a classmate in all probability) presented a recommendation to the ring committee that David be allowed to wear the prestigious academy ring despite his failure to attend the Ring Dance in June and to complete his senior year at the academy. If one midshipman in his class of over 900 men voted "Nay" he could not have been awarded his graduation ring. He wears that ring proudly to this day as one of his most precious possessions. He completed his engineering degree at the university of Miami in 1949. He later graduated from the University of Miami's law school in 1961 after 6 years of night school. He practiced law as a sole practitioner until he joined Fuller, Brumer, Moss, Cohen, Kandell & Logan until 1984. He then practiced in Kendall with Theodore Bayer and Alan Jacobson until 1987 when he was appointed as a Circuit Court Judge by Governor Bob Martinez. He served as a senior Judge after his mandatory retirement in 2001. He continued to work as a mediator, special magistrate, and guardian Ad Litem for the court system. David was a Master Mason in Miracle Lodge which merged with South Miami Lodge. He later studied to become a 32nd degree Mason, as was his father, of which he was most proud. David and Judy were also honored members of the Founder's Society of Baptist Hospital. He played tennis with many friends for over 50 years and had a full and happy life. He loved Miami, Florida and his family. He died with "no regrets". He had a good family and a good run. And good luck and happiness to all.
