She was born in Cuba on May 10, 1929. Her parents were Manuel Pampin and Caridad Gamboa.
She was raised in Havana and her desire to help individuals in need led he to her dream career and became a nurse.
It was performing her duties as a nurse that she met the man who became her love and eternal partner with over 65 of marriage, Dr. Fernando Montalvo.
They married and she became the loving and devoted mother to four children, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren
Her life was also filled with multiple obstacles and difficulties which she bravely endured. She left her native country, which had fallen under a communist regime, in search of freedom and a better life for her family. This phase of her life took her first to Madrid, Spain; followed later by Tampa, Florida and finally to Miami, Florida.
It was her resilience and continued drive to overcome adversity, that she while working to help maintain her family in a new country with a different culture and language; she was able to revalidate her career as a Registered Nurse and continue her life long dream. All this while never loosing focus on her family and Catholic values.
Alicia leaves behind her husband Fernando Antonio Montalvo, MD; her four children Alicia Beatriz Montalvo, Lourdes Maria Montalvo, Maria Victoria "Vicky" Diego-Montalvo and Fernando Luis Montalvo.
As well as grandchildren Beatriz, Victor, Jaqueline, Kelly, Julian and Angelica and nine great-grandchildren.
A mass will be held in her honor and remembrance on Tuesday January 5, 2021 at St. Brendan Catholic Church located at 8725 SW 32nd St. Miami, FL 33165. Services will start at 2:00 PM.
