Sarah Elizabeth Grady, a native of Lafayette and resident of New Orleans for many years, died at her home in Jefferson on May 15. She was born on June 2, 1955, the second of the two children of the late Thomas and Lillian Matthews Grady of Lafayette. An alumna of the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette), Sarah was a respiratory therapist, employed for a short time at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette before coming to New Orleans' Children's Hospital, where she worked for 35 years. Well known for her wry wit and love of a good story, Sarah laughed hardest when the joke was on her. She also loved reading, beaches everywhere and all things Irish. A memorial service for "Zara," as a few close friends called her, will be held at a later date, when the stories will flow and no one will laugh harder than she. Sarah is survived by her sister Susan Stock and niece Jane Jones, both of Carlisle, Pa.; nephew W. John Stock, great nephews Nicholas and Walter Scott, great great niece Emmalee Stock, and several lifelong friends. The online guest book is available at www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com.
