Robert Jordan Messinger

Robert (Bob) Jordan Messinger passed away peacefully on Monday, July 17, 2023 at the age of 81 in Destrehan, Louisiana. Bob was born in Oak Park, Illinois on April 3, 1942 and spent his formative years in Minnesota. He was a long-time resident of Destrehan. Bob served his country with honor onboard the USS Enterprise and was a proud Navy veteran. With his wife of 37 years, Carol, Bob built numerous homes throughout Orleans, Jefferson and St. Charles parishes through their company Messinger Homes, LLC.

He is survived by his wife Carol, his son Daniel (Kirby), and stepsons David Wharton (Emily) and Kevin Wharton (Kate), grandchildren Finley Messinger, Kennedy Messinger, Ashlin Wharton, Madison Wharton, Bridget Wharton, Henry Wharton and Jake Wharton. Bob was preceded in death by his sons Robert Jr. and Vincent Messinger, parents Philip and Mabel Jensen Messinger, and sister Jean Marie Crabtree.

Family and friends are invited to his memorial services at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd. Metairie, Louisiana on Monday, July 24 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place immediately following services at Greenwood Cemetery, 5190 Canal Blvd. New Orleans, Louisiana.
