Peter Wayne Bassil

Peter Wayne Bassil, age 62, entered fully into the presence of his Lord and Savior while surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 22, 2023. He was the beloved husband of his childhood sweetheart, Debra Daigre Bassil, for 39 years. Father of Beau Patrick Bassil (Lyndsay), Britt Peter Bassil and the late Blake Christopher Bassil. Beloved Grandfather of Ethan James, Nathan James and Aiden Blake. Former father-in-law of Whitney Bassil and Anna Bassil. Son of the late Chris Bassil and Margie Bassil. Son-in-law of the late James Daigre and Camille Daigre. Brother of Cindy Esteves (Dale), Doug Odendahl, Steve Vassiliadis and Greg Bassil (Kathleen). Dearly beloved brother-in-law of Jay Daigre (Janice), Kenny Daigre (Faye), Craig Daigre (Liesa), Ronnie Daigre (Evie) and Diane Gatti (Jimmy). Also survived and loved by many nieces and nephews who were all his favorites (you know who you are!). Peter was born and raised in Metairie, LA. He was a graduate of Jesuit High School Class of 1979 and attended UNO. Peter had always been an entrepreneur at heart and owned multiple restaurants and businesses. He was a devoted member of Lakeview Christian Center. He was an avid car enthusiast, loved being on the water and enjoyed fishing. Peter was a very selfless, generous person and was a beacon of light to all those he met. He always looked for a way to serve others. He will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial gathering at Lakeview Christian Center, 5885 Fleur De Lis Drive, New Orleans, LA 70124 on Saturday, July 1, 2023 beginning at 10:00 AM with a memorial service to follow at 12:00 noon.
