Patricia “Pat” Donovan Huth of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2023, at the age of 81 with her two loving daughters by her side. Pat was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 22, 1941. She was the beloved wife of 45 years to the late Gerald A. Huth -- her one and only, her Marine.
Pat is survived by her two devoted daughters, Jodie Huth Gallagher (Richard T. Gallagher, Jr.) and Traci Huth Munster (Steven Wayne Munster). Pat is the loving sister of Dr. Thomas John Donovan, III, and the late Virginia “Ginny” L. Donovan. Daughter of the late Onzelda Alcantara Donovan and the late Thomas John Donovan, Jr. Her pride and joy were her five grandchildren, Richard “Thomas” Gallagher, III (Sammy Odell), Brittany Rose Gallagher, Taylor Brennen Lemaire (Michael Verges), Ashleigh Grace Gallagher, and Jillian Grace Munster. They always made her laugh and stole her heart! She delighted in all of their accomplishments. She was and will always be their biggest cheerleader. Pat is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Pat graduated from Sacred Heart High School on Canal St. After graduation, she worked as a secretary at Retail Credit for many years. She enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom, but when Jodie and Traci started school, she became a preschool teacher’s assistant at St. Ann School, where she met many dear and loyal friends.
When Pat decided it was time for Hospice, she wanted to talk to us about her obituary. We asked her what she wanted us to write. She said, “Say that I was nice.” She was nice…but she was so much more! Pat Huth, Mimi to her grandchildren, was a Good Person. Many people are good sometimes. Many do good things. Pat, Mimi, was always good. Good, meaning she was kind, she was humble, she was gentle, and she had a big heart. So when we say Pat went to heaven, we are certain of that! Mimi passed on this goodness, by genetics and by example, to her two daughters and her grandchildren. She loved her family very much and could not be more proud of the people they have become.
We know Pat is dancing in heaven with Jerry and smiling down on us all!
Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial service that will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at St. Ann Church and Shrine, 3601 Transcontinental Drive in Metairie, where she never missed Mass (being sure to arrive 30 minutes early to get a good seat). Visitation will start at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
