Mike Maslak, age 69, of Metairie, Louisiana passed away peacefully on Friday, June 30, 2023, with his loving wife by his side. He is preceded in death by his parents, the late Stanley and Elizabeth Maslak, and a brother, Paul Maslak. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Linda Maslak, his children Joelle Maslak (Alauda), and Jeremy Maslak (Crystal), sister, Claudia Ely (David), three grandchildren, Daniel, Parker, and Katelynn Maslak, nephew, Jason Maslak, and nieces, Michelle Nickels, and Andrea Ely.
Mike attended high school in Anaheim, California afterward, he entered the U.S. Navy where he served 8 years, and was a Nuclear Power Electrician with an E-6 rating. He served on the first nuclear-powered submarine Nautilus. After leaving the Navy, he worked with Amax Coal Company in Gillette, Wyoming as an electrician for 20 years. While he was there, he pursued his Bachelor's degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology. After leaving Amax, he went to work as a director for Goodwill Industries in Savannah, Georgia for 10 years. He then moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, and went to work for Konecranes as an electrical inspector until he became ill. Mike was a very caring special person with a huge heart. He spent his remaining years as a jeweler making beautiful jewelry and works of art up until the day he passed away. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
