Marie Solito Giarratano entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 26, 2022 at the age of 95. Beloved wife of the late Frank Giarratano, Jr. Devoted mother of Margaret Giarratano Gondolfi. Mother-in-law of the late Ronald A. Gondolfi. Loving grandmother of Gina Davis Scanlon (Mike), the late Alfred Donald Davis, Jr., Sheri Gondolfi and Karen Gondolfi Boesch (Robert). Adored great-grandmother of Kristina Scanlon Nichols (Mark), Courtney Scanlon Cooper (Adam), Michael Scanlon, Jr. (Sarah), Matthew Scanlon, Gianna Boesch and Madison Gondolfi Navarro. Cherished great-great grandmother of Mia and Olivia Nichols, Carter and Carson Cooper and Emma Scanlon. Daughter of the late Dominick and Josephine Verdi Solito. Sister of Joseph Solito, the late Jules Solito, the late Victor Solito and the late Daisy Solito Scardino. Also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and sister-in-law Eula. Marie was born, raised and married in New Orleans where she and her husband opened and managed Frank's Shoe Store for many years. They later moved to Metairie and opened Kiddie Korner Day Care, which they operated for 20 years before retiring. Marie's greatest joy was spending time with her family. Everyone that knew the family knew her and considered her their grandma. She enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling and going to the casino. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home on 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA 70006 on Saturday, January 7, 2023 starting at 11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in the chapel at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
