Maria Amalia Leon Bernal, M.D., age 65, left us on Friday, January 6, 2012. Beloved wife of Jose A. Bernal, M.D. for 39 years. Mother of Maria del Pilar Bernal, M.D. (Jesus Lovera, M.D.), Alberto Jose Bernal (Cristina Gonzalez) and Jorge Bernal. Grandmother of Sofia, Lucas, Isabel and Mateo. Sister of Dario Leon, M.D., Clemencia Leon, M.D., Jorge Leon, M.D., Cecilia Leon, Consuelo Leon and Alberto Leon, M.D. and the late Maria del Rosario Leon. Daughter of the late Dario Leon, M.D. and Cecilia Galindo Leon. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Dr. Bernal was a native of Colombia and a resident of Metairie, LA for the past 20 years. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial visitation at St. Clement of Rome Church, 3990 West Esplanade Ave., in Metairie, LA on Friday, January 13, 2012 beginning at 10:00 AM with a Memorial Mass to follow at 12:00 noon.
