Kristin Leonhard Sevin passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, at the age of 79. She was wife of Ronald C. Sevin and loving mother of Kelley, Ceres (Ron Anderson) and Jennifer. She was daughter of the late Ceres and Walter Leonhard and siblings Jane Leonhard and the late Kurt Leonhard (Lilburn).
Kristin was raised in Gentilly, attended St. James Major and graduated from John McDonough. She met her husband through her dad’s department store, Leonhard’s, in Bywater, where they raised their family. She dedicated her life to her husband of 56 years and her three girls. Kristin loved her family and loved living life to the fullest with many hugs and kisses. She lived life with an energized, positive and hardworking attitude. Central to it all was her sense of humor, especially in difficult times. She loved people and getting to know their story. She never met a stranger. Her kindness and empathy for people was only outdone by her love for animals. She showed her compassion to countless dogs and cats in need at the SPCA, Animal Medical and Surgical Hospital and throughout the neighborhoods. Through the years, it was commonplace for bottle feeding kittens & puppies; giving a home to shelter dogs; and raising a squirrel.
When she was a young child, her parents told her she was adopted from the Cradle in Chicago. After her parents passed away, she learned her birth mother, Dorothy Ann, had recently passed away, but she met her five siblings and became very close to her sister, Jeanette.
As a lifelong New Orleanian, she especially loved everything New Orleans has to offer. She never had her fill of parades, festivals, craft fairs or sucking oyster shells or crawfish tails. Kristin, momma, will be terribly missed as she is now second lining in heaven. Lots of Hugs & Kisses, XOXO.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., Metairie, LA on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Interment will take place at Hope Mausoleum, New Orleans, LA on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 10:00 AM.
