Judith Sherwood Kemp

Judith "Judy" Sherwood Kemp passed away peacefully at her home on April 2, 2022, at the age of 84. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Gerald "Pete" Walter Kemp and her parents, Ralph and Julia Sherwood . She is survived by her loving children, Elizabeth "Beth" K. Martin (Steve), Peter S. Kemp (Angela), and Jane K. Estrade; her loving grandchildren, Kerilyn Knowles (Jared), Ashley Martin, Emily Martin, Jessica Dodd (Cody), Monique Buquet, Nathan Buquet (Andrea), Herman Buquet (Breianna), Cody Estrade, and Ella Estrade; nine great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Martin, Liam Knowles, Adalyn Knowles, Logan Kemp, Christina Dodd, Alyzabeth Buquet, Aspyn Buquet, Riley Buquet, and Herman Buquet Jr., and her brother, John "Jack" Sherwood (JoAnn), as well as many nieces and nephews.

Judy graduated from Fortier High School and Southeastern Louisiana State College, where she was involved in many college activities including a sorority. Judy started her career as an elementary school teacher and ended her career as a tax auditor for the Internal Review Service. After retirement, Judy and Pete enjoyed traveling with friends throughout the United States and Europe. She was an avid gardener and a very active member of Country Club Home Gardeners. She was also a member of the New Orleans Chapter NSDAR, The Red Hats, AARP Chapter 2014, a volunteer for Children’s Hospital, and a 30 plus year member of the Beach Club where she enjoyed playing tennis with friends. She was a faithful member of St. Augustine's Episcopal Church for over 50 years.

The family would like to thank all her wonderful neighbors, including Carli Polizzi and Kristy Herrin, the wonderful staff at Ochsner Medical Center and Guardian Hospice, especially Catherine and Dee.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, April 22, 2022 at St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, 3412 Haring Rd. Metairie, LA. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with a service to begin at 11 a.m. Interment will be private.
