John R. Peppo Sr.

John R. Peppo, Sr., age 85, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, December 2, 2016. Mr. Peppo was a native of New Orleans, LA, a former resident of River Ridge, LA and most recently a resident of Abita Springs, LA. Beloved husband of Elizabeth Kirsch Peppo for 62 years. Father of Melissa Sperling (husband, Johnny), Patrick Peppo (wife, Tamaneh), Andre Peppo (wife, Nicole) and the late Stephanie Morgan (surviving husband, Matt) and John Peppo, Jr. Son of the late Joseph Peppo and Beatrice Frankovitch Peppo. Brother of Delores VanCourt, Beatrice Reine, Bert Peppo, Fern Savoie, Hazel Coates and the late Joe Peppo, Anthony Peppo, Malcolm Peppo, Clinton Peppo, Hyacinth Holloway and Irene George. Also survived by 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandchild. Mr. Peppo was a Marine veteran of the Korean War. He was former chief of the Third District Volunteer Fire Department in Jefferson Parish and was a retired Jefferson Parish School Bus Driver. He was a member of Celebration Church where he served as an elder, was a member of Northshore Worship Center for the past year and was a member of American Legion Post 350. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his heart. He loved them dearly and was a very devoted grandfather and great grandfather. He will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial gathering at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 beginning at 10:00 AM with a memorial service to follow at 1:00 PM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel.
