James Dixon “Dick” Sutton, 88, of Kenner, LA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 14. Dick is survived by his son, Gary Sutton and grandchildren Lauren Grace Sutton (24), and James Christopher Sutton (22). He was preceded in death by his wife Joan Rich Sutton, sister Jean Sutton Smith, his mother Mable Baker Sutton and father James Johnson Sutton. Dick was born April 23, 1926 in Lake Charles, LA. After attending McNeese State University, he enlisted in the Navy and served in both the Korean War and WWII. He was married to his wife Joan for 62 years. Together with their son Gary, they enjoyed traveling, fishing and hunting. Dick enjoyed a successful sales career with Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel and Whitaker Corporation. He was the consummate handyman and could fix anything for anyone and generously gave his time to help repair things for family and friends. Dick’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and lovingly cared for his wife Joan for 30 years after she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Services will be held Saturday, April 18 at the Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road, Houston, Texas. Visitation will begin at 9 am with the service to follow at 10 am.
