Jacqueline M. Powell

Jacqueline M. (Ballein) Powell, was called home on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 3:30 PM. She was 85 years old. A native of New Orleans, and a resident of Metairie, La. She was preceded in death by her son, Bradley J. Powell, her sister Lois Ballein Andre, and her parents Anna Glynn and Orville Edmund Ballein. She leaves many cherished memories with her surviving brothers, Donald E. Ballein and William E. Ballein, and a host of nieces and nephews. As a young lady, she sang under the stage name “Jackie Blaine” at the Famous Door and Moulin Rouge in the French Quarter, and recorded with legendary jazz musicians Sharkey Bonano and Monk Hazel on Southland and Capital Records.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Graveside Service at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, La. on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 1:00 pm. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
