Loving mother of Susan Scherer Plaier (and husband, James) and Joseph M. Scherer.

Devoted grandmother of Christy A. Plaier, Jaime Scherer Soilleau (and husband, Brandon), Emelie Scherer (and fiancé, Joshua Bergeron).

Proud great-grandmother of Evan J. Bergeron.

Sister of Elaine G. Bevelacqua, Thomas N. George Jr., Lois G. Smith, Merlin N. George and the late Melanie G. Brandstetter, Charles N. George and Kenneth N. George.

Daughter of the late Anna Wingerter and Thomas N. George Sr.

Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Scherer was a Parishioner of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, a member of the Father Seelos Center and will be loved and missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Covenant Home nurses and staff and Hospice Compassus for the love and care that they provided.

Aged 83 years, a native and lifelong resident of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Relatives and friends of the family also, employees of Whitney Bank, United States Post Office (Carrolton Branch) and members of the Krewe of Thoth are invited to attend the Funeral Mass from Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home Chapel 4747 Veterans Blvd. Metairie, Louisiana on Thursday morning January 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.

Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery #2.

Friends may visit on Wednesday evening January 5, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and from 9:30 a.m. until time of services on Thursday.
