Cynthia "Cyncie" Jane Smith

Cynthia “Cyncie” Jane Smith, 68, passed away on March 22, 2023, at her home in Metairie, Louisiana, after many years of living with breast cancer. She was surrounded by her many friends and family in the days leading up to her passing. Born in Nashville, Tennessee, she lived most of her life in the New Orleans area, attending local schools. Besides her careers at Banana Republic and St. Margaret’s of Mercy, Cyncie was foremost an artist, exhibiting at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts, selling her paintings at local art markets, and was the author and illustrator of a published children’s book. She was devoted to her Lord Jesus Christ, loved her late parents, A.P. and Peggy Smith, adored her cats, and was a special “auntie” to her two nieces, Clara and Elizabeth. Cyncie was always up for a cup of coffee with friends. She is survived by her brother, Gerry Smith of New Orleans. A Celebration of Life and reception will be held on Saturday, April 15th, 3-5 pm at St. Margaret’s at Mercy, 3525 Bienville Street, New Orleans.
