Clarence A. Diblin, Jr. passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at age 87 after a brief fight with pancreatic cancer. Clarence was a lifelong resident of New Orleans and graduated high school from S.J. Peters in 1944 and college from Tulane University in 1958. He served in the Air Force and then the Navy and was in Pearl Harbor at the end of WWII. Clarence worked at the American Can Company at 3700 Orleans Ave. near Bayou St. John for almost 35 years until he retired. For more than 25 years Clarence owned and operated a photography business in New Orleans and owned a photography shop at the 1984 World’s Fair, Courtyard Photography, taking old-time photos of fair goers in costumes. He loved fishing, photography and travel. He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather who supported his children and grandchildren in all their endeavors. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Dorothy Kinsella Diblin. He is also preceded in death by his parents Clarence A. Diblin, Sr. and Irma Diblin. He is survived by his three children Armin Diblin (spouse, Loretta), Connie Besson (spouse, Larry) and Mark Diblin (spouse, Melissa); his 6 grandchildren Cody Diblin, Alison Cupit, Josh Diblin, Dorie Diblin, Abby Diblin and Molly Diblin; one great grandchild Cassidy Cupit-Burst and one great grandson on the way Wesley Elton. He is also survived by his companion Maenel Lassalle. The Diblin children would like to thank the Lassalle family for all of their support, love and care for our father during the last several years. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Our Lady of Divine Providence Church, corner of N. Starrett Road and West Metairie Avenue in Metairie on Friday morning, June 6, 2014 beginning at 11:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 12:00 noon. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Diblin’s family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Greater New Orleans Office, 2605 River Road, New Orleans, LA 70121 in Clarence Diblin’s name.
