Betty Herbert Whitaker

Betty Ann Whitaker, 85, a longtime resident of Jefferson LA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 4, 2023. She was born on January 14, 1938, in New Orleans LA to Aubrey Herbert and Pearl Annis. She was married to Frederick “Fritz” Whitaker.

She is survived by her children, Julie Mitchell (husband David Mitchell), Lisa Duplantis (late husband Mark Duplantis), Jude Whitaker, and Chad Whitaker (wife Nicole Whitaker), and grandchildren, Sammie Mitchell, Sonny Mitchell, Bobby Franklin, Tiffany Mitchell, Jessica Franklin, Gavin Whitaker, and Grant Whitaker. She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren, Sage Mitchell, Brody Mitchell, Cash Mitchell, Lundie Mitchell, Urban Mitchell, Cohen Franklin, Ever Mitchell, Zellie Mitchell, and River Franklin.

Betty taught pre-school at Jefferson Presbyterian Day School for 28 years. She loved children and was extremely passionate about laying a foundation of love and education in their lives as they prepared for grade school.

A memorial gathering for Betty will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, Metairie, LA 70006, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM.
