Betty and I started out together in 1966 or 67.  We stayed together until she retired.  She was a constant help to me.  She was a wonderful woman.  She grew along with medicine for the whole time that we were together.  She was a wonderful, caring person.  On the other hand, she was a fine boss, a good administrator who was able to direct other people.  That is an unusual combination.  It is a combination I will always be grateful for.

Without Betty my professional life would never have been as successful and productive.  She had a wonderful ability to understand people and to pick the right action.

As a friend, she was a wonderful caring person.  I always enjoyed working with her.  I know that the success of her children and grandchildren were always first in her mind.

She will be sorely missed.  Goodbye my friend.

I will always remember Ms. Betty's kindness and caring voice during our struggle last year to get our insurance rates reduced.   She was always a major player in our fight. I will truly remember her warmth and sincere concern for us. She is a wonderful angel.  Love you.

Goosie, you were the quintessential great grandmother to Dakota, the grandchild Jim and I  share with Becky and Kerry.  We will forever be appreciative of your kindness and respect and especially your inclusion of our daughter Cheryl into your family clan.  You always made her and us feel special, and we all worked together harmoniously as families should to take care of Dakota's needs. When Dakota's little brother DJ came onto the scene, you embraced him as you did Dakota.  I am so happy that Dakota brought DJ with him to spend  2010 Christmas school break in New Orleans.  We have always felt such good fortune in having you in Dakota's life, and it was obvious the pride you felt in him and his many accomplishments.  He is 13, and we see what a wonderful man he will be. You made the world a better place in your life's work, but, more importantly, you were the matriarich of a loving and generous family.  I am positive that you are now the guardian angel for all of your family members--keep up the good work in your heavenly abode.  We sure love you and will always miss your physical presence, but we know you will continue to be a light in our lives forever.

The thing I will always remember about Betty is the big smile that was always on her face. She was happy to be with her family, all of her relatives and her many friends. She was always a big part of our family gatherings and will be missed. I'm sure her smile is now lighting up heaven.

In my 68 years, I have known only three women who laughed for the pure joy of laughter; my Mother Ruth, my Mother-in-law Lynetta and my cousin-in-law, Betty.  She had a ready smile and shared it often with all she knew, young and old alike.
I also learned quickly that she embraced life headon, loved God strongly and prayed for all her family fully.

Aunt Betty was always and always shall be a key figure in the Pierce Clan.  I can never remember seeing her in anything other than the best spirits and her willingness to help-out taught me about service.  In her later years she continued to show generosity to my children, even though she only met them a few times.  Though she has passed on, her example to the extended family will help us to draw together and support each other.

Mom, I have been talking to many of your old co workers and friends and they all echo what I know.  You are the most caring and giving person, always willing to help others.  You gave your family so much and we love you and always will.  I learned to be a strong woman from you and will miss you forever.  We were blessed to have you to travel with us and to be such a big part of our lives.  There is a big hole to fill in our days now but nothing could ever take your place. We love you. Goosie,  As I look back on my favorite moments in life, you were the person that made so many of them possible.  My first trip in an airplane was also my first time I went to Disneyworld.  The time the entire family went to Gulf Shores and I was found sleep walking on the beach.  And you also made my wrestling camp in Minnesota happen by helping sponsor me, lets not forget our Mardi Gras day float rides down St Charles Ave.  So many memories!  Not to forget the outstanding Pierce Christmas each year as you filled the Christmas tree to overflowing.  You always were a giver and I can't really remember a time when I did'nt see you not blessing someone.  I know why we called you Goosie.  You knew how to correct us when we needed it like a good Mother Goose, but you also protected and comforted us like one too.  Thank you for all you have done for Deanna and me over the past two years.  You will never know how much it means to us that you were there for us.  We miss you so much already.  I love you.

Mom, It has been said that Mothers are God's angels that were sent to take care of their kids from birth to their last breath. You were a hard working single parent that raised us and gave us the best life that you could. You were a friend, a mentor,and a critic, but most of all you were a loving mother who will never be forgotten. I know you are at peace in heaven and we will always love you.
