Albert Sidney Bentz, Sr., age 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 22, 2018 in Kenner with his wife of 68 years, Edna Day Bentz at his side. He was born in Gulfport, MS to Henry and Dora Bentz and was the youngest of 6 children, who have all preceded him in death. At the age of 16, he joined the Navy with his father’s blessing. He is a veteran of WWII, The Korean Conflict and Vietnam Wars. On December 31, 1949 he married his beloved wife, Edna Theresa Bentz. Together they had 5 children: Charles (deceased), Ann, Tom, Mary and David with their spouses; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. After being honorably discharged and retired from the Navy, Albert worked with Magnolia Liquor Company until his retirement. Albert was a founding parishioner of St. Ann Church and was a lifetime member of Fleet Reserve Branch 162 in Gretna, LA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd., near Clearview Pkwy., in Metairie, LA on Saturday morning, January 27, 2018 beginning at 9:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 AM in Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home’s chapel.
