William J Thomas Jr., known to most as Bill, Billy, or The Commish, passed away on October 23 at the age of 72, at his home in Rowlett, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Florence “Sissy” Thomas and his daughter Alyson Thomas, as well as his brother Wayne Thomas, son-in-law Steve Hoyt, granddaughter Mabel Thomas-Hoyt, his faithful companion Augie the Doggie, in addition to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William J Thomas Sr. and Dorothy Thomas.
He was born in 1950, in Scranton, Pennsylvania where he was a talented athlete, particularly as the quarterback for West Scranton High. He retired from his position as Global Sales Manager at SKF in 2015. He was an avid golfer for many years, and a committed Dallas Cowboys fan. He served as commissioner of his fantasy football league for 30 years. He was a generous, boisterous, huge personality, who will be missed by all who knew him.
A mass will be said for him at a future date at Sacred Heart Church in Rowlett, TX.
His daughter is preparing a memorial book of stories, to be completed by the end of the year. If you wish to share a story or memory of Bill (we all have a lot), please contact Alyson for instructions on how to do so.
