Michael Ray Tillery of Irving, Texas passed away on May 15, 2016 after complications from sudden cardiac arrest. He was born and raised in Tyler, Texas. Growing up, Michael participated in many Pee Wee sports, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts. He was an active youth member of Green Acres Baptist Church and involved with Texas Baptist Men’s Association and the Royal Ambassadors, where he especially enjoyed serving at summer camps and on mission trips. Michael graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 2010 where he was an athletic trainer. After graduation, he worked various jobs then attended Kilgore College Fire Academy and served as a volunteer firefighter for the Flint/Gresham Fire Department.
Michael began working for Stevens Transport in 2013 and enjoyed life as a truck driver. He especially liked working for Saia Motor Freight and made many friends during his few months with the company. Michael also enjoyed hunting, playing video games, and cheering for the Longhorns. Most of all, he loved spending time with his friends and family. He always made people laugh, and he will be greatly missed.
Michael was greeted in heaven by his grandparents, Ray and Jane Tillery and James and Lucy Pepin, and his sister Karen Tillery. His life will continue to be remembered by his parents; Gary and Donna Tillery; his sister Lisa (Tillery) Cook and sister-in-law Jennifer Cook; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Michael’s memorial service will be held Thursday, May 19th, at 4:30pm in the chapel of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler (1607 Troup Hwy). Flowers may be sent to the church, or memorial contributions may be made to Texas Baptist Men’s Association, Attn: Mickey Lenamon at 5351 Catron Dr. Dallas, TX 75227.
