Lorine Jaunita Penrod Davis passed from this life into the arms of God on Monday, September 5, 2022. Lorine was born October 13, 1925 in Carl Junction, Missouri to Marvin Penrod and Cecil Jones Penrod. She is preceded in death by her husband, Pete Davis (April 2021) and her eldest daughter, Sandra Hildebrandt Tomlin, (December 2020), and her grandson Terry (December 2019). She is survived by two daughters, Jan Simon and Diana Kaelin.
At age 17 Lorine met Pete in Coffeyville, Kansas where he was stationed in the Army Air Corp. They were married December 6, 1942 and spent 78 loving years together. After WWII they moved to Amarillo, Texas to start their family. In the late 1950's they moved to the Enid, Oklahoma area. They then moved to Oklahoma City in 1973 and finally to Dallas, Texas in 1980 where they spent the rest of their lives.
Lorine was a woman of many talents, from cooking, canning, sewing, knitting and crocheting to ceramics, painting, arts and crafts. The walls in their home were covered with beautiful oil paintings of hers. She was a seamstress with an eye for creating her own design, including her daughters’ dresses, prom dresses and even their wedding dresses.
Above all, Lorine was a devoted Christian who always believed in faith first. She spent her time in the church as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, board member, and helping organize various events.
Pete and Lorine traveled extensively in their RV as a member of MAPS and other Christian groups for many years. They dedicated their time after “retirement” to join fellow Christian volunteers who built and/or remodeled churches, camp grounds and colleges for the Assembly of God Church across the United States.
Lorine is survived by two daughters, Jan Simon, and Diana Kaelin; five grandchildren, David, Steven, Trisha, Angie, and Sarah; 14 great grandchildren, Cory, Cary Kati, Megan, Tracie, Shelby, Taylor, McKenna, Alexis, Akim, Myles, Mylana, Mylen, and Mykai; and 10 great-great grandchildren, Cade, Case, Adelaide, Michael, Paul, Isaac, Samuel, Raleigh, Remington, and Rhyett; nieces, nephews and countless relatives and friends.
