On September 28 our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Eileen left us to go be in heaven. She was born on the glorious day of July 6th in Bellaire, Ohio to Elmer and Marie Stevens. Eileen was born a coal miners daughter, and in her childhood, she was raised in many different places.
Eileen served in the Marines as the first woman cook at Camp Lejeune. She married and had four children throughout her life. She has always been a hard-working woman but enjoyed many things. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching the game show network, putting together puzzles, various game nights with her friends, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was a wonderful, caring, loving, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She always had something to say, whether you liked it or not, but later that piece of information would become useful. We all loved her very much and now a piece of our hearts is missing.
Her family will always remember her as a tough no nonsense woman. Her friends will remember her as a strong woman with a heck of a laugh and sense of humor. She will always be remembered for her delicious cooking, awesome recipes, and beautiful handwriting. She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her great, great granddaughter. She is survived by her children, Debbie, Annette and her husband Jose, Terri, and her son Ricky and his wife Denise, her sister, Betty, niece, Karen, her thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and eight great great-grandchildren.
Eileen’s Celebration of Life Ceremony will be on October 19, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church Mesquite at 300 N. Galloway Ave., Mesquite, Texas 75149 at 1:00 P.M. It will be a potluck with all Memaw’s favorite foods that she cooked or ate. No alcohol or smoking is allowed around the building. Bring your Memaw stories.
