Waneta was born on December 31, 1931, in Manson, Iowa to Gus and Etta Felder. She attended rural grade school in the Manson area. She attended Manson High School and after graduating, she moved to Des Moines and attended a small business college. She was employed by AIB (a small business paper published to help stimulate mom and pop type businesses) from 1954 until 1959. During that period of time, Waneta took time off for a vacation trip to Europe. It just happened that Ray’s sister accompanied her on the trip. Ray was in the Air Force and stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. The rest, as they always say, is history. The international love story continued until Rays’ return to the US early in 1958. The courtship continued until their marriage August 31, 1958, at the Lutheran Church in Manson, Iowa.
Waneta and Ray have three sons (Ronald, David and Michael) and the entire family (including the dog – Midnight) was relocated to Mesa in 1978. Since that time, the family has grown to 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and an unknown number of dogs and cats.
Waneta worked in the administration office of the Mesa Public School until her retirement. She is a member of St Peter Lutheran Church and was a member of various groups within the church.
Waneta’s mother, father, brother, sister, many cousins and aunts and uncles have preceded her in death. What a joy she will bring to all her family as they await her arrival into the KINGDOM OF GOD.
