Thomas Ira Ramboldt, age 77, of Bozeman, Montana, passed away on December 9, 2023. He was born in Red Wing, MN, on December 8, 1946, to Joseph Ira and Elsie Grabow Ramboldt. Thomas graduated from Red Wing High School. At age 17, he joined the US Navy and was stationed on the USS Kitty Hawk. After discharge, he attended Mankato State University, where he earned his BS degree in forestry. After a short time in Sacramento, CA, he moved to Billings, MT, where he worked for Farmers Insurance Company. While in Billings, he met his wife, Kay, and they were married in 1993 in Red Lodge, MT.
He loved to golf, travel, especially the riverboat cruises in Europe, and spend time with Kay. He enjoyed spending winters in his beloved home in Mesa, AZ, where he and Kay had an active social life. He had a great sense of humor and was happiest when he was discussing issues or joking with friends, new and old. He was quick to start up a conversation with anyone he came in contact with.
He is survived by his wife, Kay, step-children Michelle Foss and Russell (Paula) Foss, brother Timothy (Barbara) Ramboldt, half-brother David (Cathy Jo) VanHouten, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elsie, and his half-sister, Rebecca Welt, as well as his beloved dogs, Sherman, Dexter and Sadie.
