Thomas Michael Carroll Jr. passed away March 10, 2013 in Mesa, Arizona. Tom was born in Chester, Pennsylvania to Thomas and Helen (nee Hefton) Carroll. He grew up in Brookhaven, Pennsylvania. In his younger years, he wrestled and played football. He lived in Brookhaven until moving to Laguna Niguel, California in the 1980’s. He later resided in Reno, Nevada, and Mesa, Arizona. Proud of his Country, he bravely served in the Air Force, specializing in the Air National Guard. Tom spent most of his career in the construction industry. He worked for Westinghouse Inc, Ebasco Services Company, Gilbert Associates, and Schneider Construction. In May of 2008, he retired from SMC Construction where he had the role of partner. Believing in giving back to the community, Tom was active in many organizations – including the Boys and Girls Club of Reno, Nevada, the Elks Club and the American Legion. Tom wanted to take care of the world, and fix every problem. He married the love of his life, Teri, in June of 1999 in Reno, Nevada. She fell in love with the kindest man she ever met, and he fell in love right back. Spending time with family and friends brought him so much joy. Vacationing in Hawaii, wood working, and hunting with his dogs were all activities that Tom relished in. He was not only a loving man, but he was so very loved in return and will be greatly missed. Tom is survived by his adoring wife, Teri, children Colleen (Greg) Graveline, Kathleen (Preston) Hagan, Michael (Jessica) Carroll, and Richard Carroll, grandchildren Grant Graveline, Brooke Graveline, and a baby girl expected in the summer, brother William (Mary Alice) Carroll, sister Mary (Tom) Grigas, In-Laws Marvin and Eulene Goodrich, niece Amanda Grigas, and nephew William (Lauren) Carroll, and extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 at St. Mary Magdalen Roman Catholic Church in Wilmington, Delaware at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Tom’s name to either the Boys and Girls Club in Reno, Nevada or the Alzheimer Foundation.
