He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 6, 1935 to Dorothy and Walter Blaha. Thomas was a graduate of Brooklyn High School, class of 1953 and went to Ohio University from 1953-1954. He married Carol Blaha (Hoffman) in 1957 in Cleveland, Ohio. Thomas served in the United States Army as a Specialist 4th Class. Thomas spent part of his enlistment in Japan and Korea where he developed an appreciation of Japanese culture. Thomas and his family moved to Arizona in 1978 where he worked in manufacturing. Thomas was a collector of all things Marvel, DC Comics, Star Wars, Harry Potter and Happy Meal toys. He loved to buy and sell on Ebay. Thomas was an avid soccer fan and enjoyed watching the World Cup this year. Thomas will be remembered for his love of British comedies and mysteries, his love of reading, introducing his grandchildren to Harry Potter, his love of antiquing and for searching out interesting finds at the Dollar Store and Goodwill with his grandchildren. His grandchildren will remember the adventures and fun they had with their “Papa” and Grandpa.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Carol. He is survived by his sister Virginia Briggs, his brother, Richard Blaha, children Scott, Jill and Mark and his grandchildren Paul, Devan, Amy and Zoe and several great grandchildren. He is so loved and will be missed by many.
Thomas adopted many animals in his life and in honor of Thomas’s love of animals, donations can be made to the Arizona Humane Society or ASPCA or any local animal shelter.
