Scott Detota- 3 years today. He was a class person and helped shape CDW that exists today. Miss you Scott and think of you often!

Scott was the type of guy that left a lasting positive impression at CDW and within CDW PPM. He continues to be missed and he was someone I had great respect for. 

Scott was one of the most caring people I have ever worked with at CDW. No matter how much was on his plate, he always would stop in the HQ Cafe and say hello to as many people as possible. His personal interaction with the vendors and suppliers was second to none on a daily basis. I will miss that for sure. 

Scott was a wonderful leader and coworker and made me feel welcome and valued from my very first day at CDW nearly 6 years ago. He always made time to stop and check in no matter how busy he was. My son had to undergo a serious surgery last year and Scott was so supportive from the moment he found out. During and after our son’s surgery he would stop me anytime he saw me in the office and ask me how my son was doing and how our family was holding up. He offered whatever support we needed when we got the difficult initial prognosis. Scott made such a big impact on me professionally and personally. He will be greatly missed. 

Scott was one of the nicest people I knew. He always took the time to say hello and joke around with me whenever he saw me no matter how busy he was. He will be truly missed by so many. Rest well my friend.

I am so blessed to have Scott as a friend and colleague over the past 17 years.   He positively impacted so many people, me included.  I have so many great memories of and with Scott.  RIP my friend!

Dear DeTota Family,

I had the sincere honor and pleasure of meeting Scott through work when I took over the management of CDW for Toshiba almost 15 years ago and through my next career.  Scott was an incredible professional to work with and that lead to a greater personal friendship.  Scott genuinely cared about people and his relationships.  I will cherish the time we spent together, his generosity and the advice that he provided me.  

I will truly miss Scott.


I will miss Scott very much. What I remember most is how open he was to talking to people below his job title and making them feel like they where important to CDW.  I will never forget a new hire lunch where asked us what we wanted to get out of our new positions. Such a down to earth man.

I first met Scott in the fall of 2016 when I transferred to PPM . I quickly discovered that Scott expected a lot from the people who worked for him , that's because he gave a lot to those who worked for him. One time, Scott and I had a lunch meeting and he told me I was a leader and he shared that with others at work. I was shocked to hear that statement but, that's classic Scott. I've worked with good leaders over the years and, Scott was one of the finest leaders I have ever worked for. He led with dedication, wisdom and most importantly, compassion. He inspired you to give more to become better. Scott is a true gentleman and, I am fortunate to have worked for him and have gotten to know him.

Scott and I worked together at Insight. He always, literally always, had a smile and something positive to say. Scott sort of radiated positivity in a quiet, steady way, which was clearly needed to balance out the crazy energy of his group of colleagues/pals in Product Management. :) I love seeing the memories from people who have continued to work with him over the years. It is no surprise to see that Scott became a kind and successful leader who made an impact on so many. 

May he rest in peace. Sending peace and love to his wife, children and all who miss Scott today. 

We had the pleasure of living next door to Scott and Nichole for the past six years in North Barrington, IL until they moved away to AZ a few months ago.  During that time our families got to know each other well, and we knew Scott as a loving and caring husband and father.  He was also a great friend, neighbor, and someone who was always willing to help out whenever you needed anything.  His presence on this Earth will truly be missed. My sincere condolences for your loss.  

I had the pleasure of getting to know Scott through his relationship with HP.  From our very first meeting I was impressed with his remarkable IQ coupled with an enduring sense of EQ.  I valued and appreciated Scott's personality - fair but firm, stretch but be pragmatic - operate with integrity and a healthy dose of humbleness.  Scott was a good person and a good man.  I feel incredibly fortunate to have known Scott and am saddened by the loss of a terrific human. He made me and our industry better!

Scott was a true class act. I had the pleasure and honor of knowing him through many, many business meetings, events at three different companies (for me) and two (for him).
After I was laid off in the downturn, I called him for some advice on my resume and search. He suggested we meet for breakfast and met numerous times over 6 months. These reality check breakfasts lead to regular conversations over a decade.
A friend, a conscientious and caring leader and mentor, he truly cared for his team and for his partners. 
Grateful and thankful for having known him.
He made the world a better place.
He is missed and remembered.

I remember meeting Scott on his first day at CDW, I work with one of the partners at CDW, and had many interactions with Scott, all good. The trait that I remember most, and will always cherish of Scott was that he had a natural way of making you feel relevant. Scott was always professional, kind, and fair. I will truly miss him. In my 30 years plus of calling on CDW ,  I do not know if I met a finer person. RIP Scott. To his family, I am so so sorry for your loss.

I had the privilege of working with Scott and like many, I am sure, enjoyed time with him on both a professional and personal level. My wife and I had opportunities to have dinners with Scott and Nichole and we enjoyed their company immensely. I was looking forward to the next meeting and was shocked and saddened by the news. Our thoughts and prayers are with his beautiful family. He was a great great guy and I can not express how much I appreciated Scott. 

Scott was one of the first people to greet me in  the hallway when I transferred to his department at work.

I admired his inclusive leadership style and the way he equipped his teams to reach their fullest potential.

My deepest condolences to his family, friends and associates. Scott's positive energy and supportive character will be remembered and missed.




Scott Detota was a true professional and even better person. I owe a lot of my 23 plus years at CDW to him. He always knew what to say and how to say it. He was one of the best business people I have ever met. Scott, I will miss you and know you will watch over all of us. 

Scott was a class act. I have worked alongside a great deal of people in my career and I can confidently say that Scott was one, if not the kindest, most relational business man I had ever had the pleasure working with. He will be deeply missed by many. 

Scott was awesome.  I met him as an intern and worked with him for years.  He was a hard-working person.  He was always a really nice guy.  I am so sad for his family and close friends.  He is missed.

I first met Scott with my beautiful niece Nicole Kobos when they first visited in Ocala, Florida. I liked him the very first, and I knew that he would love and care for my niece through every obstacle that faced them.  We visited in Naples, Fl and had a wonderful time, as well as when they visited and collected shells at Englewood beach. He is in God's hands and the Archangels. My Hawaiian Prayer Vigil will continue and the Angels will hear the call for help and will be caring for Nicole and the children in every way.
