Sarah Jane Mabry

Sarah Jane Mabry, 83, peacefully passed away August 16, 2022 in Tempe, AZ. She was born Sarah Jane Hasselbacher August 18, 1938 in Galesburg, IL to George and Helga Hasselbacher. In 1956, Sarah graduated from Galesburg High School. Sarah married Richard Skinner in 1957, they later divorced. Then in June 1972 she married the love of her life, Arnold (Arnie) Mabry. In March 2020, she and her daughter, Julie, began a new adventure and moved to AZ to be near family.

Sarah worked for A&P, Kroger Company and Dick Blick in Galesburg, IL. After moving to Peoria, IL, she worked her dream job at Frames Plus and Kay’s Hallmark with her extended family. She attended First Christian Church in Galesburg, IL and Richwoods Christian Church in Peoria, IL. Sarah also volunteered at Galesburg Cottage Hospital in the Gift Store and Assistant to Pastor Dave Campbell in the 80’s – 90’s. She loved bowling and golfing, however golf was her true passion.

She is predeceased by her spouse and love of her life, Arnold (Arnie) Mabry; parents, George Hasselbacher and Helga Hasselbacher; and siblings, George Hasselbacher Jr., Helen Hasselbacher Sandberg and Charles (Chuck) Hasselbacher. Sarah is survived by her daughter, Julie Skinner of Scottsdale, AZ; grandsons, Rick Clark of Salt Lake City, UT, Eric and Ashley Clark of Scottsdale, AZ, Caleb Clark of Salt Lake City, UT, Aaron Clark of Sun City, AZ and Misty Ann (Kyle) Borkgren of Alpha, IL; great-granddaughters, Jade, Bailey, Zoe, Taylor and Presley; great-grandsons, Nicco and Sylus; brother, James (Jim) Hasselbacher of Galesburg, IL; sister-in-law, Connie Scheuermann (Don) of Mackinaw, IL; brother-in-law, Don Mabry (Sonja) of Carthage, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Sarah’s family to go toward final expenses. A celebration of life will take place at a later date and time.
