Samuel M. Kingsland, 79, of Mesa, AZ passed away peacefully on July 16, 2019 surrounded by his family, after a three-month battle with bladder cancer.
Sam was born June 17, 1940 in Chicago to Samuel F. and Rose (Marturano) Kingsland. He married the love of his life, Phyllis (Curatola) Kingsland on September 7, 1963 at Saint Peter Canisius Church in Chicago. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Christine (John) Ryan and Andrea (Rick) Mattern of Mesa, AZ; three grandchildren, Cassidy Ryan of Chicago, Kylie (Jacob) Fletcher of Gilbert, AZ and Brody Ryan of Phoenix, AZ; his sister, Judy of Oak Brook, IL; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sam graduated from St. Mel High School in 1958 and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He enjoyed a successful career in steel sales, and was a wonderful provider who both worked and played hard. Sam was a connoisseur who enjoyed the best life has to offer, and he was also an amazing chef who was known for his incredible feasts. He loved spending time entertaining family and friends, golfing, boating and skiing. He truly lived life to the fullest, and was loved and respected by all.
A private memorial service for Sam will be held on August 31. Thank you very much for your kindness and thoughtfulness. We are sincerely grateful for all the wonderful memories and condolences that have been shared on Sam’s behalf.
