Richard James Carr, 89, passed away at Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona on August 18, 2023. He was born in Emlenton, Pennsylvania to Gerald H. and Helen Marie Carr on June 17, 1934. Richard (Dick) was one of 6 brothers and 3 sisters. After high school graduation, Dick served 4 years in the United States Air Force, spending the majority of his time in Europe. Upon returning from his service Dick studied at Penn State University. On July 11, 1958 Dick and Anne Marie Eckelbarger were married at the bride’s home in Emlenton, Pennsylvania. They celebrated their 65th Anniversary this year. In 1959 Dick and Anne moved to Arizona. Their household increased by 3 daughters and 2 sons. Dick learned the construction business from the ground up over the next few years. He started Carr Construction Company and continued serving Arizona until his retirement. Dick was a member of VFW and his favorite pastime was camping and hunting. Dick is survived by his wife, Anne Carr who lives in Mesa, Arizona and his sister, Kay Parker, who,lives in Pennsylvania. Also, 4 children and their families. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Jeanne Davis, daughter, (Damon) and their son, Ryan Davis (Paige) of California; their daughter, Hailey Fontes (John) and their children, Presley, Morgan and Rocco. Guy Carr, son, and his children Alison and Lauren. Son, Boyd, passed away in 2020, Twin daughters & families of Syracuse, NY. Tabitha Barber, daughter, (Craig) and their daughters, Quinn and Paige. Kari Carr, daughter, (Joel) and their daughter, Avery Morey. Katie Benson, daughter, (Shaq) and daughter Amara of California. Garrett Carr, son.
Also 2 stepsons, Mike Ratay (Alex) and son Parker, of New York and Nick Ratay. Dick and Anne’s children all became competitive swimmers at an early age and the family spent several years involved in the Chandler Swim Club. Many long-term friendship’s resulted for the children and parents.
Dick will be sorely missed by his loving family and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Dick and Anne's home on Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Please contact the family for any further information.
