Raymond was born on July 31st, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Margaret and Luther Johnson and is survived by his loving wife of 58 years and his devoted daughter.
Raymond is a man of exceptional character who lost his father too early and joined the Army to help support his mother and two sisters.
While serving his country Raymond received several awards, most notably The Army Commendation Medal as well as the Meritorious Service Medal for his service from August 1961 through August 1981. While serving in various positions of responsibility and trust both overseas and in the United States. He culminated his military career as Operating Sargeant, 1st Battalion, 37th Field Artillery, 172nd Infantry Brigade. His entire period of service was characterized by professionalism and selfless attitude and was highly respected throughout the brigade. He was a trusted counsel for numerous decisions involving battalion operations, providing honest and successful solutions to difficult programs. Upon retirement, Master Sgt. Johnson was recognized for conspicuous performance of duty which presents exemplary achievement in the finest traditions of the United States Army.
He was especially fond of a plaque given to him by the citizens of the township he served while stationed in South Korea. It always made him laugh. The plaque read:

Raymond’s quick wit, mischievous personality, strong sense of responsibility, and kind heart will be sorely missed.
The world seems a bit dimmer without him.
Raymond will be laid to rest on Monday, December 18, 2023
