Ray Lyman Nielsen

Ray Lyman Nielsen, 81, of Mesa, AZ, passed away July 3, 2016 with his family by his side in Scottsdale, AZ. He was born August 5, 1934 in Ogden, UT to Lyman and Thelma [Sparrow] Nielsen. Ray enjoyed reading and golfing; he was a big joker and was always teasing his grandchildren. He worked as a manager for 35 years with Skagg’s Drug Stores, which became Osco and eventually Osco sold out to Albertson’s. In 1982, Ray met Judie Coulthart, and they spent the next 34 years together. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister and his daughter Cynthia Nielsen. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judie; children, Jeff (Debbie) Nielsen, Susie (Ken) Kerby, Jodie (Loy) Page, Brad Nielsen, Lorrie Duren, Jeff (Karen) Duren and Colleen (Jeff) Irwin; 19 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 6:30pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1345 E. University Drive, Mesa, AZ 85281.
