Kent Theron Borup, 72, of Mesa, Arizona passed away on January 17, 2021 at his home. Kent was born on May 12, 1948 in Bountiful, Utah to Theron and Gladys Borup. He graduated from Bountiful High School. Kent met his sweetheart in high school and they married on June 16, 1967. He was the proud father of two children.
Kent provided for his family by working miscellaneous jobs when he was younger, several at the same time (truck driver, valet at the Hotel Utah and family owned ice cream shop). He attended school to become a mechanic along with 5 years of schooling to become a licensed journeyman plumber. He remained working full-time as a plumber until his semi-retirement a few years ago in which he took a part-time in a plumbing supply company working with his son. He also served as a police officer on the Sandy City Police Department in Sandy, Utah.
Kent's favorite hobbies included automotive repair, drawing, handyman projects and arts and crafts. His true passion was his many talented woodworking projects for himself and his loved ones.
He is survived by the love of his life, Cheryl Ann Crane Borup, his sister Cher Borup McLelland, his son Dennis Borup (Sylvia) and daughter Wendy Borup Venrick, grandchildren Amber Borup Hanna (Kevin), Nathan Borup and Matthew Venrick, and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Theron and Gladys Borup, his grandson Lee and his brother in-law Mike McLelland.
A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held on January 30, 2021 at 10:00 am at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care, 6747 E. Broadway Road, Mesa, AZ 85206 with graveside service following at 11:00 am.
