Jerry Scruggs, born August 18, 1935 in Gordon, NE to Carlton Vann and Grace Blanche [Thoroman] Scruggs; passed away on April 23, 2014 in Casa Grande, AZ. Jerry was a faithful and loving husband and counted his children and grandchildren as the best accomplishments of his life. He was a member of Sun Valley Church of Christ and was past president of the 100 Club of Indiana and the Society of Die Casting Engineers. He was active with the Rotary Club and the Jaycees in his younger days. He was named Jaycees “Man of the Year” prior to moving to Arizona from Indiana in 1981. Jerry was a graduate of Central High School (Class of 1953) in Flint, MI and the University of Michigan (Mechanical Engineering Degree) and owned several plastic molding companies and later did engineering and consulting in the molding industry. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, one sister in infancy, and is survived by his wife, Judith Scruggs of Mesa, AZ; children Cindy (Jerry) Talley and David (Winonah) Scruggs of San Tan Valley, AZ, Steve Scruggs of Flint, MI, Julie (Liam) Shaw and John E. Scruggs of Mesa, AZ. Jerry is also survived by his grandchildren Paul Mason Jr., Melanee (Brad) Tiffany, Shawn Scruggs, Charity (Steve) Scruggs-Cloyd, Michael Lamb, Jessie Shaw, Phoenix Scruggs and Dustin Scruggs; great-grandchildren Paul Mason III, Dexter Tiffany, Cassidy Tiffany and Jacob Scruggs; brothers Dr. Jack (Anna) Scruggs of Greer, SC and Johnny V. Scruggs of Mesa, AZ; In-Laws Don and Vi Cummings, Mildred Cummings of Bedford, IN and Margie Walls of Terre Haute, IN as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and long time friends cherished by Jerry. A visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Mariposa Gardens Cemetery Chapel, 6747 E. Broadway Rd. in Mesa. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Sun Valley Church of Christ, 1015 N. Recker Rd, Gilbert, AZ.
