Jane was born September 13, 1931, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to James and Eleanor Baird. She had three sisters: Ruby Struss, Erma Cameron, and Cora Christiansen.
She married Wallace R. Christiansen in 1947 with whom she raised seven children: Larry Christiansen, Randy Christiansen, Connie Parker, Gayle Corcoran, Vickie Christiansen, Mark Christiansen, and Cheri Robert.
Well after her children had grown and moved out, at the age of 67, Jane took the job of head cook at a nursing home, where she worked for 13 years serving hundreds of people each day. She loved her job and was recognized in a local paper for her excellent cooking and helpful nature. The paper even went so far as to liken her to the well known cooking instructor, Julia Child.
Her hobbies and interests included crocheting, coloring, cooking (and eating) food, and spending time with her family. She took it upon herself to crochet a blanket for every baby born, until there came a day when her hands could no longer hold a hook, whereupon she took up coloring pictures and handed those out instead.
With her son Mark having passed away, Jane is survived by six of her seven children, her sisters Cora and Erma, her twenty-three grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are with Mariposa Gardens where there will be a celebration of life event at 10am on July 26.
