James (Jim) Snyder passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at the age of 92 years young in Mesa, Arizona. Jim was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 24,1929 and moved to Arizona with his family in 1969. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Pat (Palmer) Snyder, his son James William Snyder III and partner Nicole of Farmington, NM, his daughter Lisa Solares and husband Jim of San Diego, CA, his stepchildren Terri Lee and partner Linda, Douglas Park and wife Kristin, his younger brother William (Bill) and five grandchildren, Michelle, Nicholas, Daniel, Ian, Sara and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jim
was preceded in death by his parents James and Adelia (Stuart) Snyder and his sister Leila.
Jim served in the United States Navy after graduating High School and served his country during WWII in engineering and as a back-up fireman on the USS Leyte in the Atlantic. After his service, Jim had a successful career as a printer with the Arizona Republic in Phoenix. After retirement in 1993, he lived life to the fullest with his many hobbies which included working out at the gym, running, and winning marathon races, playing tennis, biking, hours of puzzles, gardening, working with model trains and of course anything he could do related to his passion and love of history. Jim enjoyed spending time with his fellow veterans and his closest friends, Ted and Mary Lee Groce, Ben and Barb Lindley and Lila Heap. Jim was a good hearted and kind gentleman who adored his wife, family, and friends. He is already greatly missed.
Jim treasured the companionship of many pets throughout his life, especially his favorite cats Scampi and Princess, dog Duchess and Canaries Conway and Conway 2. In honor of Jim’s love for his pets, and in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Arizona Humane Society.

A memorial service for Jim will be held Friday, November 19, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care, 400 South Power Road, Mesa, AZ 85206.
After the memorial service all friends and family are invited to gather at a reception from 12-4PM at Fellowship Square, 6945 E Main St., Bldg. 4, Mesa, AZ 85207
