James Martin Obie

James Martin Obie, 91, of Mesa, Arizona passed away peacefully on Monday, November 28, 2022. Mr. Obie was a devoted husband to his wife of 69 years, Yvonne Marie Obie and a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

A mischievous gentle giant, a ray of sunshine with a tad bit of hurricane, he was a man of few words. Jim would casually roam around keeping to himself curiously watching every little thing going on around him. He would always pick his moment to instigate or stir the pot to get everyone laughing. His wittiness kept us all on our toes. His back and forth banter was hilarious. He was a master Oh Hell card player. he always called none or one trick every round and managed to win the pot every time. We will never figure out his strategy. He was curious about everything yet wanted to know nothing. His favorite saying was, " We'll go from there with it".

Mr. Obie is survived by his daughter Michelle Boylan (Steve), and daughter Yvette Carter (Rick); grandchildren, Courtney Trieb (Sheldon), Brandon Boylan (Mary Jo), Paige Havens (Levi), Jarod Carter, Shane Carter (Taylor), Kayla Carter (Denise); great grandchildren, Larkyn, Lealyn, Layla, Brynlee, Lennyn, Sawyer, Riggins, and Brendon.

Celebration of Life Service will be held privately for the family on December 19, 2022 at Mariposa Gardens. Mr. and Mrs. Obie will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Cave Creek, Arizona.
