Harry Edwin Willis passed away September 19, 2012 in Apache Junction, Arizona. Born in Coatesville, Pennsylvania to Mildred L. Moyer Willis and Harry Willis, Harry arrived November 17, 1943. He met Debbie Cordova while working at Boeing and married her January 1, 2003.
Harry served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and spent time in January 1962 on NTC SAN DIEGO CA; April 1962 on NAAS KINGSVILLE TX; October 1962 on NATTU NAS LAKEHURST NJ; May 1964 on USS WASP CVS-18; April 1965 on USS INDEPENDENCE CVA-62; February 1966 on VA-85 NAS OCEANA; November 1966 on VF-14 NAS OCEANA; June 1967 on VA-174 NAS CECIL FLD FL; February 1972 on USS SARATOGA CVA-60; April 1974 on USS ROOSEVELT CVA-42; December 1974 on NAS CECIL FLD FL; August 1978 on VS-24 NAS CECIL FLD; May 1981 NAS CECIL FLD FL; and June 1983 on HS-1 NAS JAX FL.
In November of 1985 he started out and remained within Product Support/Supply Support at Boeing. Harry worked within the various Supply Chain teams related to overseeing spares management and repair administration, with levels of increasing responsibility over time. He worked directly with United States government to maintain flight ability of Boeing’s Apache Helicopters when the United States was at peace and at war.
Harry was preceded in death by his mother Mildred L. Moyer Willis of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; father Harry Willis of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; brothers Robert Willis of Downingtown, Pennsylvania and Ronald Willis of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; and son Steven Barker.
Harry is survived by his wife Debbie Willis; daughter Heather Nance; sons Scott Lewis, James Barker and Ronald Willis; sisters Peggy Kuhn of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, Janet Dowlin of Tomball, Texas, Debbie Schroen of Katy, Texas and Kathy McFalls of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; brother Dennis Willis of Ephrata, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 10:00 am at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care, 6747 East Broadway Road Mesa, Arizona 85206 (480)830-4422. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harry’s favorite Charity, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
