Darci graduated from Annawan High School then received an Associate of Arts Degree from Black Hawk College, Kewanee, IL later attending Illinois State University (ISU), Normal, IL. She worked in ISU’s Office of International Studies in the 1980s. Other jobs she held were as a receptionist for TeleCourier Answering Service, Bloomington, IL, and stringer for the Moline (Illinois) Dispatch newspaper.
Darci moved to Chandler,AZ in 1993 and began doing public relations for St. Matthew United Method Church, Mesa; as well as doing volunteer work for International Rescue Committee, Phoenix.
She was born June 30, 1958 in Kewanee, IL, to Keith and Janet (Downey) Spears. In addition to her mother, other survivors include brothers, Roger (Miriam Hershey), Tyler, Texas; Bruce, and Paul both of Chandler, AZ; nieces, Mariah Spears (California),Autumn Spears (Illinois), Mindie Loebach (North Carolina); nephew, Dana Adams (Illinois); great niece, Koregan and great nephews, Byran, Cole, and Owen (Illinois).
Surviving is her life partner, Steve Robinson, Normal, IL.
She was preceded in death by her father, Keith, and both her maternal and paternal grandparents.
She had battled multiple illnesses for the last eight years. A Celebration of Life event will be held sometime after the holidays.
Memorials may be made in Darci’s name to St. Matthew United Methodist Church, Mesa, AZ.
