Clara Lee Hager

Clara Lee (Stevens) Hager was born on February 14, 1927 in Tip Top, Virginia to Floyd Stevens and Verna (Puckett) Stevens. She grew up and attended school in Tip Top, Springville and the surrounding area.

Her father was a coal miner and her mother was a homemaker. Clara was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Nell Webb, Howard Stevens and Macie Thompson, as well as the love of her life, Jessie Ralph Hager, who she met at an early age. Clara and Jess had 2 daughters, Diane Johnson (Jim Gonzalez) and Sandy Lykins (Jim Lykins); 5 grandchildren - Raymond (d 1964), Tonja Throgmorton (Wayne), Brett Wolfe (Anne), Jason Lykins (Brandi), Jessica Stout (Mike); 10 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Clara and Jess moved to Carmel, Indiana in 1954 where Clara was a homemaker and Jess worked at Hughey Construction / Carmel Concrete until he retired at 70 years of age. In 2006 they moved to Arizona where Sandy lived. A few years later Diane joined them in Arizona.

Clara has resided at Brookdale Chandler Regional Assisted Living where she has had numerous friends amongst the residents and staff. She helped to brighten their lives and they certainly brightened hers. Clara will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but we are all so thankful that you are no longer in pain and that you can see and be reunited with your much loved husband, Jess.

A memorial will be held on Thursday, December 9th at 3:00 pm at Brookdale Chandler Regional, 750 South Pennington Drive, Chandler, Arizona 85224.
