Born in Waterloo, IA, on July 27, 1930, Jim graduated from Waterloo East High in 1948.
A proud Army Veteran, Jim served during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Corporal in the 11th Airborne Division. His dedication as a paratrooper was a testament to his character.
In 2014, he faced the loss of his beloved wife, Carol Hook.
With an over 40-year career in the RV industry, Jim traveled extensively, selling and delivering RVs nationwide.
Active in the veteran community, he belonged to the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Post 7968 and the American Legion Post 0138.
Jim enjoyed cycling, participating in Ragbrai multiple times, and had a fondness for watching football, particularly cheering on the Cardinals.
Jim is survived by his daughters Crystal D. of Mesa, AZ, Holly B. of Oxford, IA, and Tammy H. of Delhi, IA, as well as his sons David H. of Waterloo, IA, and Danny H. of Fort Worth, Texas.
A memorial service to honor Jim's life will be held at a later date.
