Aubrey Dean Nichols of Mesa, AZ passed away April 1, 2018 at the age of 80. He was born August 15, 1937 in Ottumwa, IA to Courtland Alfred and Clara Rebecca [Jones] Nichols. Aubrey graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1955. After graduation, he proudly served his country from 1956 to 1960 as an M.P. in the U.S. Army. He began his career working as a meat packer and then went on to Indian Hills Community College where he studied Electrical Engineering and after college, he worked as an Electronics Field Engineer for many years. Aubrey was an avid outdoorsman and loved going hunting; while indoors, he enjoyed reading, watching TV and movies, and playing games on the computer, his favorite being Solitaire. Aubrey was married to the love of his life, Laurel Beth Shoemaker on June 2, 1962 and together they raised two children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Courtland Alfred Nichols and Clara Rebecca Jones Nichols Fletcher; three brothers, Orlo, Alfred and Olin Eugene and grandson, John Paul Nichols. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Laurel; son, Cory Dean Nichols and his wife Charlotte; daughter, Christine Cay Nichols (Carson) and two grandchildren, Curtis Dean Nichols and Joseph Timothy Nichols. A visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00am with a funeral immediately following on Friday, April 6, 2018 at Mariposa Gardens Cemetery Chapel, 6747 E. Broadway Rd, Mesa, AZ.
