We announce with heavy hearts the passing of Rosalina "Rose" Sloan, who took her leave on September 27, 2023. Born on June 22, 1948, Rose was a beacon of joy and laughter, cherished for her outgoing and humorous personality.
Though she was known to most as Rose. she held a special pride in her birth name, Rosalina, which captured the essence of her vibrant and lively spirit. Her wisdom was encapsulated in her conviction that the best life is the simple life, a mantra that she lived by, teaching those around her the beauty of simplicity.
Rosalina is survived by her loving husband, Barry Sloan. The bond they shared was a reflection of their mutual respect, adoring love, and undying commitment to each other. She is also survived by her son, Jolly Cacal, her daughter Gina Sloan, and her sister Clarina Cortez, who mourn her passing with broken hearts.
A life-long member of the Iglesia Ni Cristo, her devotion and love for the church were demonstrated in her almost 60 years as a choir member. She carried her office with pride, relinquishing her duties only when illness took her physical strength. Her lively spirit and enthusiasm will be missed by those with whom she served.
Rosalina's legacy of feeding others is one of life's greatest pleasures will continue to live in the hearts of those she encountered. She derived immense satisfaction from nourishing the bodies and souls of those around her, a trait that was greatly admired and will be sorely missed.
Her affection extended beyond humans to her furry friends, her cats, who were recipients of her unconditional love and care. Their purrs and companionship brought her great comfort, and they too will grieve the loss of their beloved human.
We would like to extend an invitation for a Viewing for Rosalina on October 3, 2023, at 6:00 PM at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home. The Burial is scheduled to take place the next day, at 2:00 PM at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. We gather to share our stories, tears, and laughter in memory of a life wonderfully-lived and a soul that touched us all.
Let us remember Rosalina "Rose" Sloan for her vivacity, kindness, humor, and, above all, her capacity to love and nurture those around her. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.wyliebaxleymerrittisland.com for the Sloan family.
