He was born on May 3, 1955 in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico. He was the son of Juan R. Marcano Sr. and Luz V. Marcano both from Puerto Rico. His father was a member of the U.S. Army so they lived in various places throughout his life. Mr. Marcano called Fort Sill, Lawton, Oklahoma his home and was a graduate from Lawton High School in 1974.
Throughout Mr. Marcano’s life he was very interested in the space program. So in 1989 he was hired by Rockwell International to work on the space shuttle program as a Technical Writer, he felt like his dream had come true. In 2009 he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Technical Management with Magna Cum Laude honors.
He was always staying busy in his life with his family and various hobbies. Mr. Marcano did custom re-building of vintage cars, wood working and re-building of guns and rifles. He enjoyed being a competitive expert marksman.
Mr. Marcano is preceded by his wife Vicki Marcano, daughters Alexis Cooper and Bobbi Irvine and their husbands, Brandon Cooper and Douglas Irvine. He also had 3 grandson’s , Noah Irvine, Luke Irvine and Kennedy Cooper. He also had one sister, Arleen Perez and brother in-law Enrique Perez of Port Orchard, Washington.
Mr. Marcano was very much loved and respected by his family, friends and co-workers. He will be cremated and there will be no memorial service scheduled. His ashes will be taken to Oklahoma and the areas that he most cherished.
