Bob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 59 years, Donna, daughter Karen (Bill) of Vernon BC, daughter-in-law Annette, grandchildren Tyler, Cameron, Megan, Ellie, Ava and Lauren, as well as three great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother Bryon Schmidt and his nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his brother Barry and his son Colin, who he missed dearly.
Bob was born July 23, 1941 in Merritt, BC. and this is where he made his first home with his family. Bob’s extensive career with Placer Dome took the family north where another home and special friends were made. Retirement brought Bob and Donna back to Merritt and they settled back into the community as though they had never left.
He loved sporting whether it was playing, watching, coaching or officiating. Curling was his longest running passion, both on and off the ice. Bob volunteered for numerous years in the Merritt Curling Club and was awarded a lifetime membership for his contributions.
Bob’s grandchildren/great grandchildren brought him immense joy. He never turned down a game of cards a cuddle or a dog walk with them.
A private Celebration of Life will be held in the fall.
