It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Audrey Lynch-Staunton, formerly Evans nee Dunn, on December 22 2023. Loving mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt and Friend. She died at home in Nicola Meadows with family at her side. The family wish to express their everlasting gratitude to the staff at Nicola Meadows whose care for Audrey in her last days and months, was above and beyond. No formal service at this time.
Audrey, formerly Evans, nee Dunn, was born in Manchester England. She grew up in Manchester and was the youngest of 11 children. Chris, Herbert, Richard, Ben, Jim, Terry, Desmond, Joe, Betty, and Hilda. She enjoyed singing and performing in amateur dramatic productions. She married Russell Evans but was sadly predeceased by him on 17th February 1970, 54 years before her death. Russ was aged only 43, and left their four children Jan, Paul, Jill and Andy. Audrey and Russell had traveled throughout the Far East (where she discovered a love for Asian cuisine) and East Africa when Russ was working for several multinational companies. After their travels they finally settled in Colwyn Bay, North wales. Following Russell's death, Audrey worked in Colwyn Bay for Swetenhams Auction house and Barclays bank. Later she became a Registrar in St. Asaph. She moved to Canada in the 80's, living in Qualicum Beach Vancouver island, close to her two brothers Joe and Des. She worked on local radio and continued to enjoy and be involved in local choir and dance groups. While living there, she met and married Alfred George Lynch-Staunton. George was originally from Lethbridge Alberta where he was a Judge. He was also an honorary Colonel in the Canadian Reserve Army having been a second world war veteran. George sadly passed 9 years before Audrey. Shortly after George's death, Audrey left Vancouver Island for the lower mainland and lived in Port Coquitlam and Burnaby before finally moving to Merritt, BC for the last 7 months of her life.
Besides being a loving mother, she was also a loving grandmother to Zoe, Russ, Joshua, Stephen, William, and a Great-Grandmother to Leo.
She will be dearly missed. We will remember her for her love of family, of trees, of music and dance, and of course fried chicken and chocolate.
