Joseph Gerald Brown

Joseph was born July 3, 1956 to Joseph and Mary Brown. A lifelong resident of Merced, he graduated from Merced High School in 1974. Joseph drove truck for many years sub-hauling for Wallace Transport. After that he worked many odd jobs before finding his true love in nursing. Joseph joined the CNA program and graduated in 2000 and began working at Grace Nursing Home in Merced and later Mercy Medical Center in Merced. In 2004 he obtained his AA and Paramedic and EMT certifications and began working at Emmanuel Medical Center in Turlock.

Joseph loved to fish, hunt, and ride motorcycles. He was very patriotic and enjoyed reading and watching about American History. His true love though was his family and his faith. Joseph was a Christian and regularly attended Yosemite Church in Merced.

He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Joyce Kay Brown; one son, Jacob Brown; three daughters, Danielle Bradley (Scott), Stefani Mendoza (Rolex) and Dallas Brown (Jonathon); one step-son, Thomas Smith (Melissa); one brother, Hershel West (Marion); two sisters, Velma Gonzalez (Johnny) and Georgia Dozier (Roger); 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary Brown and his brother Orvil LeRoy West.

A viewing will be held Tuesday October 28, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home,1490 B St, Merced. Services will be held Wednesday October 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Yosemite Church, 2230 E. Yosemite Ave, Merced.
