Joe Joey John Garcia

Joe John Garcia was born to Manuel and Aurora Garcia on May 12, 1946 in Merced, California and passed away on February 18, 2016 in Merced, California at the age of 69 years. Joe was a life-long resident of Merced and worked as a Dietary Porter for Mercy Medical Center for 30 years. Joey found great joy in music and dancing. Dancing was an expression of his love for music that created many memories with family and friends at social gatherings. His heart was full of love for his children and grandchildren; they were his pride and joy.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Aurora Garcia, and brothers, Frank Garcia and Lupe Garcia. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Garcia; son, Jason Garcia; daughter, Malissa Saltos; brothers, Eddie Garcia and Trino Garcia; sisters, Teresa Moreno, Esperanza Rodriguez, Binnie Carroll, and Mary Jane Avila; and grandchildren, Robert Saltos II and Vanessa Saltos.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life given by Gateway Community Church at 6:00 p.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home, 1490 B Street Merced, CA. The Rosary will be held on Friday, February 26, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. and the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 519 West 12th Street Merced, CA. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Merced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe’s honor to the American Diabetes Association, 1900 Point West Way Suite 212 Sacramento, CA 95815.
